New Covers! New Covers!

I’m sure you already have chalked into your calendars that Silver is coming out in May, right? Well to coincide with that, Scholastic are reissuing three of my old favourites with new covers and, I understand, also in ebook (Silver will be ebooked as well). Here are the new covers for you to pore over.

Meanwhile, am on Chapter 28 of about 43 of The Ace Of Skulls. Spent days plotting out a mammoth action sequence which I’m just about ready to start writing. You did know that all them great big action sequences were a delicately balanced sculpture of interweaving narratives and character beats rather than just a load of people shooting at each other, didn’t you? Good, just checking.

    That Silver cover is boss.

  2. Karen Carlson says:

Wow, the new cover of Storm Theif looks great. It makes me want to buy the book again and have two copies on my bookshelf. Can’t wait for Silver and Ace of Skulls. You’re a writing machine!

Wooding spree! I bought Pandemonium, Braided Path and my SECOND copy of Retribution Falls(original cover). I was gonna order the old cover of storm thief, but now that THAT is out I am sooooo reconsidering. I finished Poison, but when I found out there was a THIRD cover, I told my mom and she refused to order it off of amazon for me. Damm. Good to know about Ace of Skulls. Can’t wait for a new MALICE cover to come(?)

  4. Squirrel says:

Hi! I’ve written a letter, but I don’t know where to send it. Do you have a fanmail address?

  5. Brooklyn says:

Have a funny story here(maybe not for you though…) I was looking up Braided Path so I typed in “Braided Path Chris Wooding”. So of course, with the links came a picture of the book, the cover and your portrait. My friend comes over from the kitchen and came directly in front of the laptop, and bends over so her head is upside down in front of the screen(sorry poor wording) I guess she couldn’t see the screen well because she said “Why are you googling Chuck Norris?” I closed the laptop there. OK I hope you weren’t tooooo offended by that. But if you were, do what Pinn does. DRINK IT OFF :)

  6. I’m a particular fan of that new Storm Thief cover. Loooove it.

@ Squirrel – you could send it to my publishers but snail mail often takes a long time to get to me and an even longer time to reply to (I’m bad enough at emails :-/). If I were you I’d send me a Personal Message through the Forum (my name on the forum is chris, surprisingly enough). Otherwise please send to either:

    Publicity Department
    Scholastic Children’s Books
    Euston House
    24 Eversholt Street
    London NW1 1DB

Or if it’s about one of my adult books:

    Jon Weir,
    Publicity Dept,
    Gollancz,
    Orion House,
    5 Upper St Martin’s Lane
    London
    WC2H 9EA

@ Brooklyn – How could I be offended by being compared to Chuck Norris? The man is my beard hero.

  7. Kath says:

Yessss, saw these pretties over at amazon and I really, really like’em. So, yeah, definitely going to buy the new Storm Thief edition when it comes out. :)

  8. Brooklyn says:

OK good. Getting kicked off a an author’s blog would be pretty embarrassing. -_-So I finally finished Poison and I truly underestimated it when I ordered it off of Amazon. Since it was was one of your older books, I thought the writing would be more amateur. Well let’s just say I was way off. Hurry the hell up with The Ace of Skulls please?!

  9. Brooklyn says:

Oops forgot something important. A stupid water bottle leaked ALL OVER my awesome hardcover copy of Malice. RUINED!!! IT’S RUINED!!!! :( first of all are any of these awesome bumpy cover books still available? And second what do you do when you kill a book? Do you bury? Or do you burn it and keep its ashes in a little jar? Maybe I should take it to the book store where it can rest in peace among its fellow books? But he real question is who suffered more; me or the book?

  10. Blunderbess says:

Brooklyn : do the Tall Jake ritual and burn one of the pages. Keep the rest of the book so that, in case Tall Jake actually shows up, you can beat his ass to death with it.

  11. Hello, Chris. I couldn’t find an email for you so I posted on the forums and now here. Anyways, I’m contacting you about three matters:

    1. I run a review website which is called Serendipity Reviews, and we are having a Christmas giveaway, and I was curious as to if you’d like to donate to the “cause”?

    2. Do you offer Advanced Reader Copies for review?

    3. I design websites and am quite familiar with WordPress — are you looking to give your site a fresh look?

Sorry for pimping myself at the end, but I had to. I’d appreciate it if you could respond to this. Thank you,

    Sara

  12. @ Brooklyn – Bumpy cover books are probably available somewhere, but I doubt you’ll find ‘em on the shelves any more. You might have to hunt on the web a bit, I’m afraid.

Who suffered most, you or the book? Neither, it was me. I am connected by voodoo to every copy, and I feel their pain.

@ Sara – Hi! For giveaways & ARCs, contact one of the publicity addresses I gave upthread. You can find email addresses on the publisher’s respective websites. As to the WordPress thing, no thanks, I’m happy with what I’ve got.

  13. :P says:

Blunderbass- He better not beat Tall Jake! Poor guy! I feel so bad for him. He gets no love. :(

  14. Brooklyn says:

Blunderbess-thanks for the tip. Going all ninja on TJ would be pretty awesome, but who says I don’t want to go to Malice? O30.
Chris- I sure hope I can get another one or SOMEONES gonna pay. Whoa…anger problems. About your ‘voodoo’ problems, well I feel pretty bad for you since:my Iron Jakal has a box cutter mark, Retribution falls was attacked by my cat (don’t ask) and Black lung captains spine is already white because I read so much. Ok forgive for all weird mistakes, but I’m using a tiny handheld device.

  15. Sia says:

Oh oh oh! Does this mean that Poison is going to be an ebook?! Because I’ve been wanting a copy for my kindle for AGES! :D

  16. @ Sia – Yes, as far as I know it will be an ebook and available for Kindle, and will be out in May. That was the plan my publishers told me a while back anyway, though that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s set in stone.

  17. Brooklyn says:

Another book to add to my phone? YAY!! I can’t wait to have FOUR books on my phone! ( The Ketty Jay series, and Poison)

  18. Chris love the new cover for storm thief freaking amazing. Love that book it’s my favorite book! :)
