Football Manager 2012 Released!!!! (also The Iron Jackal)

For those of you disinterested in the epic tale of how I led Notts County from League 2 obscurity to winning the quintuple back-to-back, you might perk up at the news that the third book in The Tales Of The Ketty Jay hit the shelves yesterday. If you’re unfortunate enough not to live in the sceptr’d isle, you can order it from The Book Depository, who do free shipping worldwide, just in case you’re one of the three people on the planet I haven’t already told about this.

As always, release dates should be the same in Australia, Canada, and anywhere else that still pays lip service to the Queen 😉 Any other countries, including the US, I just don’t know so pleeeease don’t ask. I’ll tell you when I find out.

Movie news, for those who’ve been asking: there is none.

Release date for Pandemonium has been pushed back to February in the US.

Currently I’m working on Silver, which is rolling along nicely and is already racking up quite a bodycount. I’m also working on a movie which I’m very bouncy excited about but it’s really too early to talk about it much.

In other news, I just ate a biscuit.

Stay tuned!

All your other books have been released simultaneously in Canada but for some reason, not Iron Jackal. It’s coming out on December 6 here. Can’t wait!

  2. Katya says:

See, the weird thing is, I got ‘Iron Jackal’ last Saturday from Waterstones…WAY before the book was officially out. Not that I’m complaining as I loved every word of it! Talking of complaining, I’ve got one and only thing that I have to complain…

EDIT – (SPOILERS! SPOILERS! AuthorBot has registered your complaint but is forced to delete it from public view)

Apologies for sounding like a loon who just escaped out of Arkham Asylum.

EDIT – (AuthorBot says that’s okay and gives you steely hugs of auto-comfort)

  3. Hey Katya,

Sorry for butchering your post but, er, most people only got the book today. Can’t exactly expect them to have read it yet 😉

  4. Katya says:

    *hangs head in shame*

  5. Chris.

    What kind of biscuit?

    DETAILS.

  6. Um. Something nutty with chocolate on. Sorry, I’m not very good at the Facebook generation thing of updating people every time I cough. I’ll try harder.

CHRIS is staring blankly at the screen.

    CHRIS is tapping his fingers.

CHRIS is thinking about biscuits again. The nutty kind with chocolate on.

My copy turned up today, and I had to fight for my life to stop my parents from stealing it from me. I’d forgotten when the release date was, so this was a hell of a great surprise!

With a train on the front!

I just know I’m gonna enjoy this.

  8. You will if you like trains!

I also forgot the date it was coming out. Hence the fact that I was a day late posting about it 😛

  9. It’s less about the Facebook-style updating and more about the vital importance of biscuity goodness. I am in an on-going debate with one of my editors over which is superior: the Hobnob or the Chocolate-coated Hobnob. He is currently attempting to flummox me with his Vulcan-style logic of ‘without the Hobnob there would BE no chocolate Hobnob’.

    Tish and piffle.

Also, I bought my copy of ‘The Iron Jackal’ today. Huzzah!

Got my copy on Saturday – finished it 48 hours later with timeout for sandwich, a few hours sleep and a one sided row with my wife as to why she was the only one doing the shopping, washing and housework. Brilliant next instalment, characters getting ever richer and their world ever more complex. Thanks Chris, loving these stories and spending time with these characters. Really looking forward see where this is heading in the next and hopefully (please!) not the last book!

  11. Clive says:

Got it!!!! Reading it right now. Managed to put it down to write this (but only just). Thanks for the great read.

  12. Clive says:

Finished!!! Fantastic read. Will now attempt to read it slowly (delivered from Amazon 3.30 pm yesterday).

  13. Wow. Nick and Clive, I salute you. You guys can certainly wolf down a book 😉

  14. chris says:

    Hey chris
just finished the iron jackle and now i’m dying for the next, might have to put myself into a coma untill its finished. Please don’t make us wait too long. Also the whole Jez necrophilla thing, very nice touch.

  15. Chris

I have now finished ‘Iron Jackal’. You made me happy.

    Thank you for that.

Now get on with the next one! CHOP CHOP!

Also, wish me luck… 4 weeks until my first novel officially gets its release… 😀

  16. Got a copy the minute I heard it was in stores, am reading it now and it feels like coming home! Love the series and am already looking forward to part 4! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off reading chapter 3!

  17. J.M. Martin says:

About 50 pages shy of finishing THE BLACK LUNG CAPTAIN and went to my local store to pick up the third Ketty Jay book so I could sluice right into it. Imagine my bummification! It still isn’t here in the States. I sure hope it coincides with the Dec. 6th Canadian release. If not, then I’ll have to order a UK copy because I won’t be able to wait any longer.

One good thing came out of the trip today. The bookseller asked me if I needed any assistance; we started yakking about our favorite fantasy authors (mine being Gemmell, Abercrombie, Sanderson and Wooding) and I sold him on this series. He said he was taking a copy of RETRIBUTION FALLS home with him this evening. So a little reverse sales there, although he talked me into picking up a couple Dresden books.

Thanks, Chris, for this series! Until now, “The Braided Path” was my favorite of yours (with a tip o’ the hat to Alaizabel Cray), but I do believe Frey and crew have jettisoned to the top of the ol’ heap.

  18. Glad you like it, and thanks for the sale 🙂

There’s no official Iron Jackal release date as yet in the US, so if you’re jonesing for some more you could do worse than ordering it here from Bookdepository.co.uk. Free international shipping to the US. We love Bookdepository, so we do.

  19. Derek says:

I live in the U.S. and finally broke down and bought Iron Jackal from the U.K. and it was well worth it. But when will book four be released?
