Random news:
The movie adaptation of Malice is progressing nicely. The screenwriter is working on the first draft of the script now and will probably deliver around the end of February, and we’ll see where we go from there.
I’ve spent the last couple of months knocking around some secret little projects, and discussing with publishers about my next book; I’ll let you know as and when something solid is in place.
I will definitely be at the SFX weekender, and more than likely showing my mug on a panel or two. It’s all being organised at the mo. Again, I’ll tell you as soon as I know.
I’ve received final copies of Havoc, resplendent in bilious green. Yay! As I posted elsewhere, is doesn’t have the big 3D cover of Malice because it would be prohibitively expensive to do that for both books in the series, but it’s still embossed so you can stroke Tall Jake and you’ll find him pleasingly tactile. Ahem.
The mass market paperback of Retribution Falls will come out in April in the UK (that’s the small, cheap paperback version). As a bonus, in addition to my lovingly crafted section on How To Play Rake, there will be included the Logbook Of The Ketty Jay, which was an informal prequel that I blogged online in the months before the book came out. Or you can just read it here for a taster. And if that’s not enough, there’ll also be the first chapter of The Black Lung Captain included.
Speaking of BLC, it’s been delivered to the publishers and I expect the edits back any second. That one will soon be in the bag, and I love it dearly…
I hope to be able to give to another update with some more definite news on proceedings and upcoming projects soon. Right at the moment it’s all about the behind-the-scenes machinations. Hang in there!

I certainly can’t wait for my very own pleasingly tactile Tall Jake to stroke! Although if I’m honest, I’m more looking forward to BLC. There was something special about the characters of RetFalls. I haven’t felt so fond of a group of characters since Firefly.
I’m reading Retribution Falls at the moment (along with a friend) and we’re both loving it.
It’s brilliant! I love the story and characters and I think they’re brilliantly written (and my friend also agrees.) I’m an aspiring writer myself so I’m finding it very inspiring! I can’t stop writing little scenes in my notebook full of sky ships at the moment!

I didn’t think anything could distract me from my utter excitement for Mass Effect 2 this week, but knowing that soon enough I’ll be able to get a taste of The Black Lung Captain is just awesome.
Retribution Falls was utterly brilliant. It’s been said, Im sure, many times before, but it really awoke that part of my heart that died a little when Firefly was canceled (Us geeks are a terribly emotional lot!)

@ David. No worries. I fired up Mass Effect 2 last night and it’s already better than most books I’ve read. I kind of imagine it’s like all those 80s geeks felt when The Empire Strikes Back came out. It’s great to see some of those old characters again.

i have just finished malice for the leeds book awards ( im 13) and LOVED IT! i cant wait fo havoc! when is the relese date? im looking tobuy my own copy of malice asap! i havent loved a book so much since ‘skullduggey pleasent’ by derek landy, and i love manga and graphic novels, so this was perfect! I will definately write and extremly good reveiw of this book, Mr. Wooding, and i am looking forwad to reading more!

The casting of the movie is nothing to do with me, I’m afraid. Besides, they tend not to do open auditions for big parts these days; and anyway, by the time they get round to doing it, you’ll probably be 37 anyway

I love Malice! It is one of my favourite books and really, really enjoyed it. Now, i am waiting for Havoc and I know that it would be very, very good! I was just wondering, when do you think it would come out in Canada ? Oh, and do you think you could ask you’re illistrator (if it’s not you), to make something along the lines of a map of Malice? I just thought because since you mentioned that Malice was so large in Malice (the book) that we might be able to get a better idea of what it looks like.

I heard all this stuff about the movie, and was wondering if there would be pretty much everything that happened in the book, to happen in the movie. I was just wondering because I know lots of movies that are pretty much full scenes of things that didn’t happen in the books, and i hate it when that happens! Ive been waiting for havoc and im excited. I fell inlove with Malice when i caught a friend reading it so i went out and bought it. Im only 11 so im still in primary but ive actually tricked some-one into thinking Malice is real
If the due date was May 3rd in the Uk when would it arrive in Australia cause ive checked my local stores and all they have is malice

I have read both malice and havoc and i find them both very very good i cant wait till the movie comes out. i read malice in about 2 weeks and havoc in three days.

I have to say Malice was by far the best book I have read since Steven Kings The Girl Who sliced Tom Gordon. I can’t wait till Havoc comes out. And I surely can’t wait to see the movie adaptation to Malice. Is it wrong for a 23 year old to love such an awesome book? I can’t wait to read more of your work.

Hay Chris, i’ve ree-read malice 2 or 3 times, and im 12 year’s old. Im a faster reader then my parents, and malice took me about 2 days.. But anyway, im in America, so when I was skiming through comments, i read ‘so havoc’s ou-’ then i asked my parents, and i ran to the bookstore. XD. Then I got there, and went to RAAGGEEEE. Noo, the book isn’t out until October 1′st! oh the HORROR. Either way,
