It’s Out Today!

Buy, buy, buy, my pretties!!!

  1. Jan says:

Tried to get it at Book Depository. It’s listed as not in stock…

  2. Matt says:

Bookdepository is part of Amazon now, so no more importing of UK books with a US publisher is allowed.

  3. Jan says:

Bah! Then only through ebay then?

  4. Ellen says:

I ordered it from Amazon UK since it wasn’t available on Amazon US or Bookdepository. Thanks, Matt, for the update. What a shame. I sometimes like the UK book better so ordered through them. Well, now I have to wait until Amazon UK mails the book to me.

  5. Jan says:

I ended up getting it from Amazon US through private book sellers. It was $25 vs $33 from Amazon UK. Now I just have to wait..

  6. Pawel says:

First of all 😛 it’s great. I forced myself to put kindle down just to eat something and I’m going back to crew in no time, but one thing amuses me.

Why it’s easier to steal something than buy it?

Don’t worry I brought my copy! Maybe not perfectly legal but I paid for Chris work and couldn’t care less about some country based restrictions. What eludes me is why I had to rely on my low level hacking skills and put myself behind UK based VPN to bypass that country check. On the other hand less…. virtuous guy… like Frey for example 😛 would find himself crowded with temptations to put his hands on Ace of Skulls in less troublesome way.

  7. Satsuoni says:

What restrictions? 🙂 I just switched the kindle country to UK…
Good book! One point made me (literally) cry, though… ;(

  8. @ Pawel – Don’t get me started on international restrictions on ebooks… Grrr… and blocking PHYSICAL books is just criminal… Anyway, as everybody has pointed out, there are ways round it if you’re willing. But yes, there are probably plenty of people in the US pirating the book right now because they can’t get it legally.

@ Satsuoni – Very enterprising. Sorry, but I had to edit your post as you spoiled a really big part of the book.

  9. Satsuoni says:

Ah right, some people don’t like spoilers for whatever reason… Sorry about that, just a testament to my altered emotional state.
Still, I must say I saw the epilogue coming the moment *that* happened, though 🙂 Earlier, even. Just finished reading, btw. Very good book. Maybe I shouldn’t have given up sleep before work for that, though…

Also, off topic, but only 1 book of the Broken Sky was localized where I was at the moment ( out of 6, I think) , so a evook would be very welcome, edits or no…

  10. Rob says:

Amazing ! the fourth instalment sould be an awesome read, I cant wait !
(I am not using a obsolete kindle to read it) no offence to kindle users…

  11. Pawel says:

You don’t have too. That big, clumsy and expensive for it’s capabilities gadget is useless and takes to much precious space. But you can read on any 2 year old smartphone via kindle app or PC.
I’m not advertising, just in case you really can’t wait :P.
    I waited from… 14th of May.

  12. antowamz says:

Oh you can’t be serious. Just finished Retribution Falls while on vacation in Ireland.. first thing when I got home, ran to the book store to pick up The Black Lung captain. Semi-fainted when I was looking through the shelves only to find the third installment. And now, having read the first 4 chapters of the second book… you’re handing me the fourth. Not sure if my heart can handle this.

  13. Zachary Traver says:

What!? Oh my goodness! Must say I will be hitting up Amazon.UK for my copy momentarily! Looking for the best physical copy I can find! Hate EBooks. They are poison to the world of physical copies and authors everywhere. Love this series. Can’t believe it’s over!

  14. A. Bloke says:

I intend to Chris. I’m gonna buy it as a physical copy so I have all four as proper papery books. Yay! 😀

  15. kurtis says:

Just finished the ace of skulls and this I have to say…

Thank you Chris, for a journey that has made me laugh, cry, fear, rage and hope over four books.
may the Ketty jay and her crew fly off into the sunset and have some peace (for now), its been good one.

  16. Michael says:

I got mine on order from amazon UK. (I had it on order through amazon US but they took it right off the order with no future release date in the US.) I too wanted all four books to be physical copies. I can’t wait to get home tonight and hopefully it will be there waiting for me to start. Truly one the best group of characters and adventure I’ve ever had the pleasure of following. Thanks Chris!

  17. Katya says:

I’m meant to be studying, yet instead I find myself reading Ace Of Skulls. If I don’t get a distinction on this course, I will…um…I will not go ahead with baking you massive tray of chocolate chip cookies.

  18. Nickb says:

Thanks Chris for a brilliant end to a brilliant series. I totally respect your decision to bring these stories to a conclusion but I will miss spending more time in the company of these characters and in this world. I honestly can’t remember a series I have enjoyed as much as these. Bought mine on kindle whilst waiting for the paper copy to arrive and that for me is a first!

  19. Smoochie says:

Loved it. Good decision to end the series rather than it deteriorating into a mushy mess (see Robert Jordan, Terry Goodkind, etc).

Still wish the ending had been harder hitting though. Would like to expand but it would be spoilerific so I’ll refrain. A future post on why things were wrapped us they were would make an interesting read.

  20. Jordan says:

my favorite books are and always will be malice and havoc. I see a lot of myself in Seth like we both are really active and we love living on the edge. Nice job Chris Wooding! 😉

  21. Jordan says:

Have you ever thought of making Malice and Havoc a movie?

  22. Liz says:

I don’t think I’ve ever had this level of anticipation for any other series. I’m halfway through Ace of Skulls and I dread coming to the end. I’m deliberately pacing myself so I don’t gobble it up in one sitting. Also, I just have to put it down now and again to collect myself, it’s that intense.

    Thank you, Chris Wooding!

  23. Dave says:

Ace of Skulls, fantastic book, I got the hardback, you can keep your ebooks. I have now read all the Ketty Jay series, they are outstanding. I really hope that some point in the future there may be more.

  24. Zachary Traver says:

My copy of the Ace of Skulls is projected to arrive today!!!! No words really! Just listening to my favorite band C&C while waiting for my favorite author CW’s book to come in the mail, while anxiously sipping away at my orange juice. (Although I truly believe I may fling it aside if I see the UPS truck pull up!)

  25. Phil says:

Is this the last book in the series or will you be writing more. I really enjoy this series and its one of the only good steampunk fiction series around

  26. Zach says:

Just finished it 10 minutes ago. Well done sir. Most fun I’ve had with a book since Ozzie was hanging out with Tochee. Now please sell out and give us some more stories in this universe. Cheers, Zach.

  27. Thanks all for your kind words. @ Phil – This is the last of ’em, I’m afraid. Always leave ’em wanting more, as my imaginary impresario father never told me…

  28. Greg says:

Finished it this afternoon. I laughed; I cried. I laughed AND cried. Well done. Would definitely read more stories in this universe. Thanks for such a great yarn. I recommend the Ketty Jay series to my friends as often as they’ll listen.

All the best in your future endeavors.

  29. Travis says:

Thank you for this series Chris

  30. Gav says:

Love this series! So psyched that number four is finally out! Almost done with it so awesome!!!

  31. Iain Gibson says:

Bit late to the game (I’ve been saving Ace of Skulls for a while), but I wanted to say that I couldn’t have hoped for a better end to the series. Absolutely loved it.
